Section 25 Issue of Train Authorities Additional Requirements

Effective from: 08/11/2022

TA20 ARTC Code of Practice for the Victorian Main Line Operations

Commencing 08 November 2022 until further notice, on the ARTC Victorian Network operating under TA20 - ARTC Code of Practice for the Victorian Main Line Operations, the additional requirements as detailed in this notice will apply when issuing and receiving Train Authorities as detailed in Section 25 Issue of Train Authorities.

Safeworking Arrangements:

On the ARTC Network, Train Authorities must:
- only be issued by an ARTC Network Controller (Train Controller), and
- be issued directly to the Driver (Rail Traffic Crew) of the rail traffic movement.

The Driver (Rail Traffic Crew) receiving the Train Authority form (No: 2368) must:
- repeat the entire content of the Train Authority to the Network Controller, and
- record the time the Train Authority was ‘Repeated back OK at’, and
- sign the Train Authority as being fully understood.

Section 25, Rule 2 b. Train Authority Details, item 3:
When repeating the Train Authority back to the Network Controller, the Driver (Rail Traffic Crew) is not required to provide the red serial number.

Section 25, Rule 2 c. Issue and Transmission of Train Authorities:
When the Train Authority is being repeated back by the Driver (Rail Traffic Crew), the Network Controller is not required to obtain and write the ‘Serial number’ on the copy of the order held by the Network Controller.

Section 25, Rule 2 l. Verification of Train Authorities:
When the Train Authority is to be verified by the Driver (Rail Traffic Crew) with the Network Controller, there is no requirement to provide the Red Serial Number.
